Low-Temperature System Rental

Need cooling far below the range of a standard chiller? Our mobile low-temperature systems deliver temperatures down to −80 °C – for ground freezing in tunnel construction, frozen-food logistics and industrial processes that a chiller alone can no longer cover.

Capacity range

4 kW to 1,000 kW – from compact units to large-scale solutions for tunnel construction and industry.

Temperature range

Down to −80 °C – from classic process cooling to ground freezing.

Turnkey solution

Delivered ready to connect, including pumps, heat transfer fluid and connection material. Set-up and briefing by our team.

Demanding applications

Designed for requirements in areas such as chemistry and pharma.

How Low-Temperature Systems Work

Heat transfer fluid in a closed circuit

Our low-temperature systems are designed to generate particularly low temperatures in the freezing range. Following the principles of refrigeration technology, they extract heat from a heat transfer fluid, which can then be used for the specific cooling purpose. Depending on the model, the following heat transfer fluids are used:

Methanol, Ethanol, Therminal D12, Fragoltherm F-12

Water / glycol, calcium chloride

Tyfoxit F 50, calcium chloride 30 %

Key Applications

The two areas where our low-temperature systems are used most often.

1

Ground and soil freezing in tunnel construction

Artificial ground freezing consolidates the soil and makes it watertight. The resulting frozen body supports excavation pits, shafts and tunnel cross-passages until the structure itself takes over.

Ground freezing is typically carried out at −15 °C to −40 °C. The method is also used for excavation pit enclosures with difficult boundary conditions, underpinning, or the restoration of collapsed mine workings.

Frozen-food logistics and food cooling

Food cooling temperatures are mostly below −18 °C. At this level, a chiller with water as the heat transfer fluid is no longer sufficient. Low-temperature systems with water-glycol mixtures cover heat transfer fluid temperatures down to −40 °C.

Even if the permanent refrigeration plant holds the required temperature for most of the year, summer months can get tight. Our rental units bridge the gap.

Other Industries

Cryogenic systems are also used in these sectors.

Food industry

Production and storage when standard cooling is no longer enough.

Pharmaceutical industry

Storage and processes with requirements well below 0 °C.

Chemical industry

Reactions and crystallization processes at low sub-zero temperatures.

Alternatives to a Low-Temperature System

If you do not need the full low-temperature range.

Chillers

For standard process cooling without sub-zero temperatures, usually more cost-effective than a low-temperature system.

Air handler

Complement chillers and low-temperature systems with optimized air distribution.

Reefer & ultra-low-freeze containers

Mobile storage cooling when storage, not process cooling, is the priority.

FAQ

What temperature can a rented low-temperature system reach?

Down to −80 °C, depending on the model. Standard systems cover approx. −15 °C to −40 °C, cascade systems approx. −40 °C to −80 °C.

When you need temperatures below the range of a standard chiller (approx. +5 °C to −15 °C), for example for ground freezing, frozen-food cooling below −18 °C or chemical processes at sub-zero temperatures.

Depending on the model: water-glycol mixtures, calcium chloride solutions, or methanol, ethanol and special heat transfer fluids. The choice depends on the required temperature.

Units are delivered turnkey with pumps, heat transfer fluid and connection material. Our team sets them up and briefs you.
